Where does the fortune of Sergey Brin come from?
Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin is an American computer scientist and Internet entrepreneur. He co-founded Google with Larry Page. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather by studying mathematics and computer science. After graduating, he enrolled at Stanford University to do a PhD in computer science. It was there that he met Page, with whom he built a web search engine. The programme became so popular at Stanford that they left their doctoral studies to start Google in Susan Wojcicki’s garage in Menlo Park.

How did Brin’s company Google develop?
After meeting Larry Page at Stanford University during an orientation session for new students, Brin and Page quickly became friends and began developing a search engine as part of their doctoral studies, which they have both suspended. In August 1996, the first version of Google was made available on the Stanford web site. In 1998, Brin and Page co-founded Google’s predecessor, then called “Googol”. Today, Google is the most used search engine on the Internet and offers a wide range of additional services such as Google Maps, Google Translate and many more. Google’s parent company, Alphabet, which was founded in 2015, generated more than $300 billion in revenue and employed as much as 180,000 people in 2023.
