Where does the fortune of Larry Page come from?

Lawrence Edward Page is an American computer scientist and Internet entrepreneur. Together with Sergey Brin, he is best known for being one of the co-founders of Google. Influenced by the technological environment at home during his childhood and by his father, who earned a PhD in computer science, Larry Page finished his computer engineering bachelor at the University of Michigan. Later he graduated with a master of science in computer science from Stanford. Due to the massive success of Google, Larry today is ranked among the richest persons in the world with an estimated net worth of 55 billion U.S. dollars.

How did Page’s company Google develop?

During the theme search process for his PhD dissertation at Stanford, which he suspended and still didn’t finish until today, Larry got engaged with mathematical properties of the “World Wide Web” and the understanding of its link structure. This engagement later led to the search engine development and to the founding of Google (first named “Googol”) in 1998 together with Sergey Brin, a former research partner of Page. Today Google is the most used search engine in the World Wide Web and offers lots of other services like maps, translate and many more. Today Alphabet, the mother company of Google that was formed in 2015, generates more than 136 billion U.S. dollars in revenues (mainly through advertisement) and employs almost 100.000 employees.

Is there a Larry Page family office?

It’s not known, if there exists a specific family office related to Larry Page, but due to Larry’s appearance as a frequent venture capital investor there must by any kind of organization through at least a part of his investments are made. Page mainly likes to invest into innovative companies that are active in rather uncommon areas such as, for example, space exploration and flying cars.

How does the Page family office invest?

As said before, Larry does not channel all of his investments through a specific single family office, but steps into as a venture capital investor by himself. For example, he funded Tesla in a series C funding round in 2006. Since 2016, he is the leading investor at Kitty Hawk, a company dedicated to developing electric flight transportation vehicles. Page also follows philanthropic paths when making an investment through his foundation “Carl Victor Page Memorial Foundation”. The Foundation raises funds for a variety of social issues such as education, medicine, poverty, and family issues.
