How did Dell Technologies develop?
After dropping out of college, Michael Dell founded Dell Technologies with a fellow student. The company initially focused on trading in computer hardware, but soon began manufacturing its own hardware products. In 1988, Dell Technologies went public, selling 3.5 million shares at $8.50 each. The first notebook computer was introduced in 1991, and in 2003 the company began manufacturing printers and consumer electronics. Today, Dell is the third largest computer manufacturer in the world, with revenues of approximately $90 billion in 2019 and more than 150,000 employees.
Update 2024: Since 2019, Dell’s revenues have continued to grow. In 2023, the company generated revenues of up to $100 billion and employed more than 130,000 people.
