In this article, we talked to bmp Ventures AG, a successful tech investor from Germany.
Familyofficehub.io (FO): Briefly describe your focus: in which kind of startups are you investing, where is your geographical focus, what’s your average ticket size?
bmp Ventures AG (bmp): We invest smart money in highly innovative early-stage and growth startups that have the potential to become technology leaders in their respective fields, most notably life sciences, automotive, industrial tech, clean tech & chemistry as well as app/software development. Initial investments start at €350K-3M in early-stage financing rounds, and up to a total of €10m in growth financing rounds. Currently, we focus on investments in Germany.
FO: What was your most successful investment so far?
bmp: Our current portfolio encompasses almost 50 startups across many different technological fields and at different development stages. Particular highlights are Immunic Therapeutics, Tesvolt and TWINNER. All three companies are spearheading technological development in their fields – immunological therapies, energy storage systems and car scanning technology, respectively. So far, we carried out more than 250 investments, and realized over 100 exits of which 20 were IPOs. Some of the most recent ecxits include Flightright and komoot.
FO: How can family offices collaborate and invest with BMP?
bmp: We primarily manage single-investor funds. Of course, we can initiate and manage suitable venture capital funds for family offices. In addition, we are always open for new co-investment opportunities in startups with exciting technology.
