Julie Mathers, the founder of retail firm Flora & Fauna, acquires Snuggle Huny Kids together with private equity investor Arcus Partners as well as the Australian single family office of Daniel Besen, called BESEN.
Expertise in environmental-focused retail
Julie Mathers is known for launching vegan and eco-friendly clothing firm Flora & Fauna, which was eventually sold to BWX in 2021. Mathers left Flora & Fauna in 2022. Now, with the help of Arcus and BESEN, she will lead Snuggle Hunny Kids as CEO. Snuggle Hunny Kids is a Sydney-based babywear firm that was launched in 2015. The firm’s products are available at more than 2,000 retailers.
BESEN family office as lead investor
The acquisition of Snuggle Hunny Kids for an undisclosed sum is done by a joint venture of Arcus Partners and BESEN. Daniel Hong, the co-founder of Arcus Partners, served for two years as Head of Private equity for the BESEN family office. The Daniel Besen family office invests in businesses as well as property development projects. Daniel Besen launched the firm in 2000, mainly focused on equity investments and real estate development projects, amongst others in Sydney, Perth and New York.
