LineVision has raised up to 37.5 million dollars in a Series D co-led by Centaurus Capital, the investment firm founded by John Arnold, and New System Ventures, with National Grid Partners and existing investors also participating. The Boston company sells dynamic line rating and situational awareness software for electricity transmission networks. Its NexusIQ platform combines physics-based modelling with data from sensors mounted beside overhead lines to establish how much current a conductor can actually carry under prevailing weather conditions, rather than relying on the conservative static rating utilities have traditionally assumed. The effect is more capacity from existing infrastructure without new build. LineVision works with National Grid, AES, Southern Company, TVA, NV Energy and Exelon, reports 20 million pounds of customer savings in the United Kingdom, capacity added to power more than 500,000 homes and the largest operational deployment of dynamic line rating in the United States, in a Western New York control room. It has offices in Boston, Boulder and Schiphol. Chief executive Vishal Kapadia framed the case bluntly: the fastest and cheapest megawatts are the ones already built. The capital funds global deployment and both organic and acquisitive growth.
About Centaurus Capital: The John Arnold investment firm
Centaurus Capital is the investment firm of John Arnold, who built his reputation trading natural gas at Enron and then at Centaurus Advisors, the hedge fund he ran from Houston until returning outside capital and closing it in 2012. Since then his activity has split between private investment and philanthropy, the latter through Arnold Ventures, the foundation he and Laura Arnold launched in 2008. The investment firm keeps no public website and publishes no portfolio, so its positions are known only where companies name it. The two disclosed in September 2026, LineVision and the superhot rock geothermal developer Mazama Energy, both sit in power infrastructure and both were co-led rather than passive, which suggests an office taking board-level positions in the physical energy system rather than spreading small cheques across climate software. For a family office, energy trading experience is an unusual edge in this sector, since the value of a dynamic line rating system depends on understanding what congestion actually costs.
