The British businessmen and philanthropists

Simon and David Reuben were born in Bombay to a Baghdadi Jewish family. They moved to London in the 1950s, where they began their careers. David began trading in metals while Simon imported carpets. In the 1970s and 1980s, they became wealthy and expanded their metal business into Russia. By 2000, the brothers had sold all their Russian assets and focused their business activities on property in the UK. The Reuben brothers made much of their fortune by investing in and selling various companies. In 2018, they sold 75% of GlobalSwitch, a data center business, for $5.7 billion. They also sold their stake in luxury leisure group Belmond Ltd for $233 million. As a result of their business success, the brothers have amassed a combined fortune of $19 billion. Today, they manage their assets through Reuben Brothers SA which acts as their family office.

The investment focus of the Reuben brother’s family office

Reuben Brothers is active in private equity, property investment and development and debt finance. The company is located in Geneva, Switzerland from where it oversees its investments. They include racecourses, pubs, airports, media and data centers, while its property holdings include office, retail, hotel, residential and infrastructure properties. In terms of their venture capital activities, Reuben Brothers was the lead investor and backer of Metro Bank and invested in hiSky. In addition to their business activities, they have a philanthropic arm, the Reuben Foundation, which was established in 2002.
