Builders Vision, the investment and philanthropy platform founded by Lukas Walton, has made a minority investment at the General Partner (GP) level in Hatch Blue, an Ireland-based venture capital firm specializing in sustainable aquaculture. The transaction gives Builders Vision a non-controlling equity stake in the management company itself, rather than in the underlying portfolio assets or fund vehicles. Builders Vision had already been a Limited Partner (LP) in Hatch Blue’s €93 million Blue Revolution Fund and has partnered with the firm across investment, advisory, and venture-building activities since 2017. Hatch Blue was co-founded in late 2017 by Georg Baunach, Carsten Krome, and Wayne Murphy, and operates three funds with a combined AUM of over €100 million, having invested in more than 60 portfolio companies across the aquaculture value chain. The firm’s Blue Revolution Fund, advised by global environmental nonprofit The Nature Conservancy, targets investments in next-generation fish farms, regenerative seaweed and bivalve farming, aquaculture nutrition, enabling technology, health and genetics, and alternative seafood. Investors in the fund include the European Investment Fund, the Irish Strategic Investment Fund, and Germany’s Rentenbank. Hatch Blue employs 32 people across offices in Ireland, Hawaii, Norway, Singapore, and Germany, and also operates a global accelerator program for early-stage aquaculture startups called CREST.
About Builders Vision: The Chicago-based Lukas Walton family office
Builder’s Vision is a Chicago-based single-family office and impact platform founded by Lukas Walton, a grandson of Walmart founder Sam Walton, whose net worth is estimated at approximately $40 billion. The platform manages over $15 billion across multiple asset classes with a team of nearly 100 people and focuses on three sectors: food and agriculture, energy, and oceans. Builders Vision operates through three interconnected units: Builders Asset Management (investments), Builders Initiative (philanthropy, with a $1.7 billion endowment), and Builders Bridge (policy and advocacy). In 2014, Walton founded S2G Ventures — now S2G Investments — with an initial $100 million fund focused on sustainable food and agriculture; S2G has since grown to manage $2.5 billion across more than 100 portfolio companies and launched as an independent registered investment adviser in 2024. Builders Vision deploys what it describes as “full-spectrum capital” ranging from philanthropic grants to venture investments and large-scale co-investments. In 2025, the firm consolidated its investment operations under a single Chief Investment Officer, Noelle Laing, as reported by familyofficehub.io. Walton also serves as Chair of the Walton Conservation Coalition and is a board member of the Walton Family Foundation. He was named to TIME’s 100 Most Influential Climate Leaders list in 2025.
