Wirtgen Invest: PV plants and wind parks in Europe

Wirtgen Invest was established after selling the family group Wirtgen to John Deere for a multibillion dollar amount. The family office invests in real estate, venture capital, capital markets and renewable energy. Wirtgen Invest focuses on high-performance solar parks and wind parks. For instance, the family office is the owner of a large PV park in Lagos, Portugal, which is one of the largest solar projects in Portugal. The PV park has a power of 49.9MWp and consists of more than 133,000 PV modules. The PV park sells its electricity to electricity exchanges. Furthermore, the family office owns a windpark in Poland and Sweden and further solar farms in Portugal, Australia and the Czech Republic.

Global investment focus, cooperations with renowned renewable energy firms

Wirtgen Invest is active in a wide range of companies. For instance, the family office completed a PV plant in Australia in April 2021. The Glenrowan project consists of 375,000 PV modules from Chinese manufacturer Jinko. The plant has an output of 149MWp. In Europe, the clear investment focus lies on solar parks in Portugal. For its 97 MW PV plant in Amareleja, the family office has signed a PPA with Holaluz Clidom SA. For its 25MW wind farm in Sweden, the firm cooperated with PNE’s unit WKN GmbH, which is a renowned wind project developer.
