David Bonderman: American billionaire and businessman

David Bonderman is best known for his role as chairman and founding partner of American private equity giant TPG Capital, which oversees around $220 billion in assets. Bonderman started his career when he and Jim Coulter worked for billionaire Robert Bass. The duo left in 1992 to found TPG. Bonderman, who is often referred to by his nickname “Bondo”, has been essential in setting TPG’s strategic direction. While he operates out of Fort Worth, Texas, his partner Coulter is based in San Francisco. In January 2022, TPG took an important step by going public and started trading on the NASDAQ. Outside of TPG, Bonderman has been an influential board member for several high-profile companies. His board activities include Uber, Continental Airlines, Ducati, Burger King and RyanAir. His work has made Bonderman very wealthy. He has an estimated net worth of $7.3 billion.

The investment focus of Wildcat Capital Management

The family office of David Bonderman was founded in 2011 and is headquartered in New York. Wildcat Capital Management invests primarily in start-ups, committing up to $150 million of equity per transaction. They take both majority and minority equity positions in what are typically founder-owned companies. The firm currently manages 13 investments in companies across a range of sectors. The family office of David Bonderman owns several car wash companies, the contact lens company Hubble, the fertility clinics of Spring Fertility and the investment and trading platform Robin Hood. Wildcat Capital also manages the Seattle Kraken, an ice hockey team that became the 32nd franchise in the NHL.
