Leonard Blavatnik: British investor and philanthropist

The British investor began his career in 1986 when he founded Access Industries at Harvard Business School. His firm focuses on five industrial sectors: chemicals, natural resources, media and telecommunications, venture capital and real estate. Throughout his career, Blavatnik has managed to invest in start-ups that have become highly successful. His past investment portfolio includes technology companies such as Amazon, Facebook and Spotify, as well as retail companies like Alibaba or Zalando. Furthermore Access Industries invested in industrial companies such as Russian oil company TNK. His business success has left him with a fortune of more than $30 billion, of which he has donated more than $700 million to charity. As a result, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his philanthropic activities.

Access Industries: The Blavatnik family office

Access Industries is not only the foundation of his wealth, but also his personal Leonard Blavatnik family office, through which he manages his assets. From its headquarters in New York City, Access Industries has invested in more than 100 countries and territories. Its current investment portfolio is valued at more than $35 billion. Over the years, the investment focus of Len Blavatnik’s family office has changed slightly. Today, the firm invests in biotechnology, entertainment, real estate, technology ventures and equity. The current portfolio includes media companies such as DAZN, Warner Music Group and A24. Acces Industries also invested $60 million in a Series A financing for the pharmaceutical company Recludix. Finally, Acces Industries has invested in a small number of externally managed funds. The family office is also part of the top family offices in New York.
