The heirs to an Italian media empire

When Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian media tycoon and politician, died in 2023, his $6.8 billion fortune was inherited by his five children – Marina, Pier Silvio, Barbara, Eleonora and Luigi. His five children, from two different relationships, now own the majority of the holding company Fininvest. Marina and Pier Silvio now each control 26.5% of Fininvest, while Barbara, Eleonora and Luigi each hold 15.6%. Marina is president of Fininvest, while Pier Silvio, Luigi and Barbara sit on the company’s board of directors. Eleonora is the only heir not on the board of Fininvest. Pier Silvio has also been CEO of MediaForEurope since 2015, while Barbara was CEO of AC Milan when her father owned the club. As of November 2024, Marina and Pier Silvio’s fortune is estimated at $2.2 billion, while their siblings Barbara, Luigi and Eleonora are worth around $1.3 billion.

H14 S.p.A., the Berlusconi family office, is based in Milan and serves as a qualified shareholder of Fininvest S.p.A., one of Europe’s largest media groups. H14 manages a diversified global portfolio, investing across private equity, venture and growth capital, hedge funds, and capital markets. Focused primarily on North America and Europe. With selective investments in emerging markets, H14 supports digital entrepreneurs and companies in expanding their businesses in Europe. Luigi Berlusconi is a chairman of H14 and owns 33% stakeholder alongside his two siblings. In 2019, Luigi’s shares in H14 were valued at over $100 million. The same should apply to his siblings.

Investment activities of H14

In 2023 the siblings earned around $5.4 million through dividends from the family’s investment firms. Key investments of the Berlusconi family office include FlixMobility, Tradeshift, wefox, ContentSquare, Sennder, Deliveroo, and Duetto. It also invested in diverse ventures, including German pharmaceutical auditing firm Qualifyze, and Italian tech company Bending Spoons. Furthermore, H14 invested in German fintech Trade Republic, payment platform Tradeshift, and French online driving school Ornikar.
