Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners, the family office of former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg and her husband Tom Bernthal, has led a $10 million funding round in Self Inspection, a San Diego-based vehicle inspection technology company. Announced on July 16, 2026, the round also included strategic investments from tire distributor U.S. AutoForce and automotive lender Westlake Financial, alongside early-stage funds Costanoa Ventures, Rebellion Ventures and BrightCap Ventures. Existing backers include DVx Ventures, the firm founded by former Tesla president Jon McNeill. Founded in 2021, Self Inspection has built an AI-powered platform that allows enterprise customers to assess vehicle body damage with a smartphone camera. The company has completed more than one million inspections for rental fleets, automotive finance companies, auctions and marketplaces, with Stellantis’ financial services arm using the platform for corporate-owned vehicles and lease-end inspections. The fresh capital will fund product and AI development, deeper enterprise relationships and expansion across North America and Europe.
