Octave.energy, a Belgian provider of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and energy management software, has raised €10 million in a Series A round. The financing combines equity and flexible debt and was led by SPDG Growth, the investment arm of the Périer-D’Ieteren family office SPDG, which has backed the company since its €2 million seed round in 2022. imec.istart, BNP Paribas Fortis and KBC also participated. Founded in 2020 and based in Mechelen, Octave.energy started with second-life battery storage and today supplies first-life LFP battery systems combined with its own energy management system (EMS). The software allows commercial and industrial customers to increase self-consumption of solar power, reduce peak loads, manage EV charging, obtain additional capacity in grid-constrained areas and trade flexibility on energy markets. According to the company, it has delivered more than 200 MWh of storage capacity to over 400 businesses, including Colruyt Group, McDonald’s, Eneco, Naturgy and Nextensa. Octave.energy reports that it has been profitable for three consecutive years and generated €16 million in revenue in 2025. The new capital will be used to build local sales and operations teams in the Netherlands, France and Germany, expand the installer partner network and further develop the EMS and asset management platforms. First projects are already operational in Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Spain.
About SPDG: The Périer-D’Ieteren family office and holding
SPDG (Société Anonyme de Participation et de Gestion) is the holding company of the Périer-D’Ieteren family, one branch of the family behind the Brussels-listed D’Ieteren Group, whose roots go back to 1805 and which today includes Belron (Carglass, Safelite) and the auto parts distributor Parts Holding Europe. The holding was established in 1977 and is chaired by Olivier Périer. In September 2024, SPDG agreed to sell a 16.7% stake in D’Ieteren Group to Nayarit Participations, the vehicle of his cousin Nicolas D’Ieteren, for about €2 billion, alongside an extraordinary dividend of roughly €4 billion paid by the group. SPDG committed to selling its remaining 10.6% stake over the following five years. With approximately €3.5 billion in net assets, SPDG describes itself as a family enterprise rather than a family office and invests directly in operating companies linked to sustainable development. Around two-thirds of its assets, or about €2 billion, are earmarked for direct investments, with the remainder held in financial assets for liquidity. SPDG is based in Brussels and Paris and is B Corp certified. Denis Pettiaux serves as CEO of SPDG Capital.
