Sharrp Ventures, the investment office of the Harsh Mariwala family, has led a seed round of 9 crore rupees, around 1 million dollars, in Protein Pantry. Peercheque, Consumer Collective by Atrium and Indian Silicon Valley Capital joined, along with angel investors including Varun Alagh, Rishubh Satiya, Avnish Anand, Arush Chopra and Saurabh Munjal. The Delhi company sells high-protein, low-calorie vegetarian ready-to-cook food, including soya chaap, tikkis and cutlets, and states that its products contain no refined flour, preservatives or palm oil. It was started by a former chef and a fitness enthusiast and sells through quick-commerce platforms including Blinkit, FirstClub and Flipkart Minutes across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Hyderabad. The funding will go toward setting up and scaling a manufacturing unit, with continued spending on research and development and the supply chain. Protein-forward packaged food has been one of the faster-moving Indian consumer categories, driven by urban gym membership and by quick commerce, which lets a small brand reach several cities without building distribution. Protein Pantry now appears in Sharrp Ventures’ published portfolio.
