Builders Vision, the impact investment platform and family office of Lukas Walton, has participated in a $25 million fundraise for Crew Carbon, Inc., a New York City-based water technology company. The round comprised $19 million in Series A equity and $6 million in grants and other non-dilutive funding. The Series A was led by Burnt Island Ventures, with participation from AP Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund, Builders Vision, Kibo Invest, Idemitsu Ventures, New York Ventures, and additional family office investors, alongside existing backers including Counteract, ANIMO Ventures, Connecticut Innovations, Ponderosa Ventures, and Echo River Capital. Led by CEO Dr. Joachim Katchinoff, Crew Carbon provides wastewater treatment facilities with a process intensification solution designed to improve operational performance, lower costs, and permanently remove greenhouse gases. The company has already secured several long-term contracts with utilities across the United States and intends to use the proceeds to expand operations and accelerate product development.

About the Lukas Walton Family Office: Builders Vision

Builders Vision is the impact investment platform and single-family office of Lukas Walton, a member of the Walton family, heirs to the Walmart fortune. Headquartered in Chicago, the platform deploys capital across grants, direct investments, and fund commitments with a focus on three interconnected sectors: food and agriculture, energy, and oceans. Builders Vision manages a multi-billion-dollar global portfolio spanning over 300 grantees, nearly 50 direct investments, and more than 100 fund managers. In May 2025, the organization appointed Noelle Laing, CFA, as its sole Chief Investment Officer, consolidating the investment arms of Builders Vision — including Builders Initiative and Builders Asset Management — under a single leadership structure. Laing, who had worked closely with Walton for over 12 years, previously led the $1.7 billion Builders Initiative Foundation endowment and oversaw more than $300 million in impact capital across Builders Vision’s core sectors. The Crew Carbon investment aligns with Builders Vision’s energy and environmental mandate, consistent with its broader mission of generating financial returns while driving sustainable outcomes.
