CLP2, an investment vehicle backed by the Loro Piana family and the Luisa Loro Piana family alongside Carisma, the family office of entrepreneur Giovanni Cagnoli, has completed a majority acquisition of Cantiere delle Marche (CdM), an Italian custom explorer yacht shipyard. The transaction marks the conclusion of a staged ownership consolidation process that began when CLP2 first invested in the shipyard in 2025, at which point the structure was designed to lead to full control over time. The deal was concluded through the acquisition of shares previously held by FIL Bros Family Office, the investment vehicle representing Tom Schroeder and his team, who now exit the business entirely. Co-founders Vasco Buonpensiere and Ennio Cecchini, who previously served as president and CEO respectively, retain minority shareholdings and continue in their executive roles. CLP2 has indicated it will support the shipyard’s existing four-year business plan, with the company reporting that performance indicators are currently running ahead of initial projections and that it enters the new ownership phase with a full order book. The transaction received advisory support from Poggi e Associati, with the team including Emanuele Gnugnoli, Tommaso Sacchi, Marella Lavarone, and Massimo Castiglioni.
About the Loro Piana family office: CLP2
CLP2 is a private investment vehicle established by members of the Loro Piana family — one of Italy’s most prominent entrepreneurial dynasties — and the Luisa Loro Piana family, structured alongside Carisma, the family office of Giovanni Cagnoli. The Loro Piana family built its legacy through the eponymous luxury textile and fashion house Loro Piana, founded in Quarona, Piedmont, which became globally recognized for its ultra-fine wools, cashmere, and vicuña fabrics. In 2013, LVMH acquired an 80 percent stake in Loro Piana for approximately €2 billion, in one of the largest transactions in the Italian luxury sector. CLP2 represents the family’s continued deployment of private capital into direct investments, with the acquisition of Cantiere delle Marche reflecting an interest in Italian industrial and craft excellence beyond the fashion sector.
