The Emirates became independent wenn a treaty with the British on December 1st, 1971. The soon formed a federation of Emirates and became recognised as the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is known as the most luxurious Emirate, with a focus on tourism and hospitality. The ruling family in Dubai is the Al Maktoum family and many family members have their own family office. In the following we are introducing you to three Dubai single family offices.

#1 Al Ghurair Investment

Al Ghurair is the Dubai based single family office of the Al Ghurair family. The company is one of the most diversified family businesses in the Middle East having been active in several different sectors for quite some time. The company is active in the real estate, resources, foods, construction, energy, and mobility sectors. Their real estate focus is on residential, commercial, industrial buildings as well as hospitality. For example the company owns and operates the Swissôtel Al Ghurair and manages Al Ghurair Centre Apartments. The construction division is an important player in the UAE and has stakes in the engineering, masonry, facilities and readymix fields of activity. Al Ghurair Investment is also heavily invested in energy trading and in resources. 

#2 Dubai Holding 

Dubai holding was founded in 2004 and acts as the private investment vehicle of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai. He also is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai Holding invests through many sub-companies and is active in many fields of activity. Their real estate division is consisting of Dubai Properties, one of the largest real estate developers in Dubai and Dubai Asset Management, one of the largest asset owners and managers in Dubai. The Hospitality division of Dubai Holding invests through Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts, one of the most recognised hospitality brands on the planet. Jumeirah owns and operates 22 hotels in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Among others the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, the only seven star hotel in the world and the Jumeirah Emirates Towers. Dubai Holding is invested in internet and communication technology (ICT) through Dubai Internet City and Smart City. Both companies intend to increase Dubai’s position as an international ICT hub. Dubai Holding is one of the drivers behind many industries in Dubai. In total Dubai Holding has around 20 companies through which they invest. In September 2021 the pandora papers stated that Dubai Holding holds three companies through a secretive offshore system. 

#3 Daher Capital

Daher Capital is the private single family office of Michel Daher and his family. Michel Daher is a Lebanese businessman, who found early success with Daher Foods a food manufacturing and distribution company. After this he started investing his money in publicly listed companies and real estate and startups around the world. After growing his organisation he founded Daher Capital as his private investment vehicle and to manage his earnings. 

Daher Capital is investing in a broad range of asset classes.
