The family office of Lawrence E. Golub, CEO of U.S.-based private credit firm Golub Capital, has made its first investment in the Middle East, backing Wyld VC’s newly launched $50 million fund. Wyld VC, founded by Saudi investor Tala Hasan Al-Jabri, is the MENA region’s first AI-native venture capital firm, focusing on early-stage startups developing AI middleware and applications. The move comes amid growing regional investment in artificial intelligence and talent development.

Golub described Al-Jabri as an experienced investor with strong networks across the Gulf and the U.S., calling the partnership a “unique investment opportunity.” The fund launch coincided with heightened U.S.-Gulf engagement, including a recent visit by former President Donald Trump to Riyadh. Wyld VC aims to address what it sees as a critical talent gap in the region’s AI sector, as Gulf states continue to scale their infrastructure and regulatory frameworks to support advanced technologies.

Golub Capital, founded in 1994 by Lawrence Golub, is a U.S.-based credit asset manager with over $60 billion in capital under management. The firm focuses on middle market lending, late stage lending, and broadly syndicated loans, and is affiliated with the publicly traded Golub Capital BDC, Inc. (NASDAQ: GBDC).
