Emerson Collective, the investment and philanthropic platform of Laurene Powell Jobs, has participated in a $64 million Series A funding round for GridCARE, a Redwood City, California-based power acceleration company focused on AI infrastructure. The round was led by Sutter Hill Ventures and John Doerr, with additional participation from National Grid Partners, Future Energy Ventures, Stanford University, Xora, Aina Ventures, Overture, Acclimate Ventures, Clearvision Ventures, and other individual and family office investors. Founded at Stanford’s Doerr School of Sustainability and led by CEO Amit Narayan and CTO Ram Rajagopal, GridCARE develops what it calls Power Acceleration services — deploying its Energize platform, which uses physics-based AI to identify and unlock underutilized capacity on existing grid infrastructure. The company enables AI factories, utilities, and energy providers to bring large-scale power capacity online significantly ahead of conventional timelines, and claims to have generated more than $10 billion in economic value for data center developers by accelerating hundreds of megawatts of capacity by years. GridCARE intends to use the proceeds to expand operations and continue product development.

About the Laurene Powell Jobs Family Office: Emerson Collective

Emerson Collective is the investment and philanthropic platform founded by Laurene Powell Jobs in 2011, structured as a limited liability company and headquartered in Palo Alto, California. The organization manages an estimated $28 billion in assets, derived primarily from Powell Jobs’ holdings in Apple and The Walt Disney Company inherited following the death of her husband, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. Emerson Collective operates as a hybrid family office, deploying capital across venture investments, philanthropic grants, media ownership, and policy advocacy, with core focus areas spanning energy and the environment, education, immigration, digital health, and artificial intelligence. Notable investments include Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Antora Energy, Zap Energy, Mistral, and OpenAI, alongside a majority stake in The Atlantic magazine. The GridCARE investment aligns with Emerson Collective’s longstanding energy and environment mandate, consistent with a broader thesis that the largest market opportunities lie at the intersection of technological innovation and meaningful societal impact.
