The GETEC Family Office of Dr. Karl Gerhold has made a new investment in Raydiax as part of the Magdeburg-based medtech startup’s €7.5 million Series A1 financing, announced in March 2026. The round comprises €5 million in venture capital from existing business angels, current investor bmp Ventures (with IBG funds), and the newly participating GETEC Family Office, alongside €2.5 million in grant funding awarded by the European Commission’s EIC Accelerator program — one of the most selective deep-tech funding instruments in Europe. Raydiax, a spin-off of the STIMULATE research campus at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, was founded in 2022 by CEO Dr. Thomas Hoffmann, Dr. Tim Pfeiffer, Andre Mewes, Robert Frysch, and Benjamin Fritsch. The company is developing TACT (Therapy Assistance CT), a specialized computed tomography scanner designed to support the planning, execution, and real-time monitoring of minimally invasive cancer therapies. Unlike conventional diagnostic CT scanners, TACT provides focused live CT imaging during interventional oncology procedures, reducing radiation exposure for both patients and physicians while shortening procedure times, and its larger device aperture enables the integration of robotic assistance systems. With the newly raised capital, Raydiax will conduct first-in-human studies to generate early clinical evidence, advance the TACT system toward series production maturity, and build out organizational structures in sales, production, and quality management. High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), which led the company’s earlier €2.4 million seed round in 2023 alongside bmp Ventures, noted the company’s strong progress from seed investment through to the Series A1 close and EIC Accelerator award. Raydiax has raised approximately €11 million in total funding to date including the earlier EXIST research transfer grant from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

About GETEC Family Office: The Gerhold family office

The GETEC Family Office operates under GETEC Energie Holding GmbH (GEH), the personal holding company of Dr. Karl Gerhold, an economist and former politician from Hesse who served as head of the State Chancellery of Saxony-Anhalt before turning to entrepreneurship after German reunification. In 1993, Gerhold founded GETEC Gesellschaft für Energietechnik und -Management mbH in Magdeburg, initially developing heating solutions for the housing sector in the context of post-reunification infrastructure modernization across eastern Germany. Over three decades, Gerhold built GETEC into one of Europe’s leading decentralized energy services providers, expanding into industrial energy contracting, energy trading (as one of the first participants on the German power exchange), renewable energy, and network and telecommunications services. In 2017, Swedish investment firm EQT acquired a 75% majority stake in GETEC’s industrial and real estate energy contracting operations (G+E GETEC Holding), with Gerhold retaining a minority position. Under the EQT partnership, the combined company more than doubled revenue, tripled headcount, and expanded from Germany into nine European countries, operating over 11,500 decentralized energy generation assets with more than 5.2 GW of installed thermal capacity. In 2021, EQT and Gerhold sold their stakes in G+E GETEC Holding to J.P. Morgan’s Infrastructure Investments Fund (IIF). In 2024, GETEC Energie GmbH was sold to BP. Today, the GETEC Gruppe retained by the Gerhold family focuses primarily on GETEC Green Energy (renewable energy from wind and solar parks) and GETEC Net (areal network services and metering), with GEH and its subsidiaries employing more than 1,500 people and generating turnover exceeding €2.5 billion. The family office, headquartered in Hanover with roots in Magdeburg, has been diversifying into innovation technology investments alongside its core energy holdings — notably investing in Neoscan Solutions (novel approaches to magnetic resonance imaging) before backing Raydiax in the CT sector. The Gerhold family is also active in regional sports sponsorship, serving as the main sponsor of SC Magdeburg’s handball division and naming rights holder of the GETEC Arena, and supports 1. FC Magdeburg and Hannover 96 in football.
