Deepika Padukone Family Office Invests In Indian EdTech Startup FrontRow

Deepika Padukone Family Office invests in EdTech Startup FrontRow

Deepika Padukone Family Office has invested in the US$3.2 million seed round of Indian startup FrontRow, a learning platform centered on creative arts and sports. The round was led by VC firms Lightspeed and Elevation Capital (formerly SAIF Partners).

The company said it plans to use the new funds to add more courses and categories, expand its community offering, and go deeper into various course formats. The Bengaluru-based platform, which is expected to be launched in the next few months, claims that it already has tens of thousands of beta users participating in its pre-launch community groups.

FrontRow: A non-academic learning platform

Founded earlier this year, FrontRow offers classes taught by local celebrities as they aim to help people learn from the very best and get better at their passion, be it music, comedy, cricket, or anything else.
The company pairs it with a community platform that gives learners regular activities, competitions, and peer engagement activities to practice and showcases their talent since a big part of learning is interacting with peers and mentors as is done in school and college.

This is even more important in non-academic fields, and while these usually happen offline, the vast majority of people do not have access to them, and here is where the company’s vision gets. They want to make this knowledge and mentorship accessible to a wide audience.

Hence, even though the courses are developed over months of deep interaction with the celebrity instructors and created with movie-level production quality to make them fun and engaging, the price points remain affordable.

Deepika Padukone family office: Purpose-driven and diversified investments

The Family Office of Indian actress Deepika Padukone has also invested in electric cab-hailing company Blu Smart, space tech startup Bellatrix, and the yogurts brand Epigamia, among others.

Regarding this investment, Deepika Padukone said that if “there’s one thing I wish I had access to while growing up, is a platform like FrontRow, one that gives individuals access to abundant knowledge in non-academic fields and connects them to a community of peers and professionals in their field of interest”.
